Franchise Outlet

The Oconee County Code Enforcement Office issued a building permit on Dec. 20 for Gigi’s Cupcakes in Epps Bridge Centre.

The store will be located in the same building as Taqueria Tsunami Restaurant, opposite the University 16 Cinema. Carter’s and Lane Bryant also are in that building.

Construction was scheduled to start on the day the permit was issued and is expected to be completed by Feb. 15.

The interior buildout permit was issued for tenant Bobbi Zastre of Winterville.

Second Area Outlet

Zastre currently operates a franchise outlet of Gigi’s Cupcakes in downtown Athens. Hers will be only the second food retailer in the $76 million shopping Centre on the Oconee Connector between Epps Bridge Parkway and SR Loop 10.

Gigi’s Cupcakes operates its franchise business out of Franklin, Tenn.

Code Enforcement issued the buildout permit for Taqueria Tsunami on Dec. 2.

That fusion cuisine restaurant, the only self-standing restaurant in the shopping center, will be operated by William Kinsey of Marietta. The theater also has a restaurant as part of its operation.

The Board of Commissioners is to take up a beer and wine permit for the Taqueria Tsunami at its meeting on Jan. 7.

Developer Owns Property

The building in which the cupcake store will be located is owned by developer Epps Bridge Centre LLC of Atlanta.

Gigi’s Cupcakes will occupy only 1,150 square feet of space in the building.

The estimated value of the buildout is $45,000.

The permit was picked up on Dec. 20, the date the county signed off on the document, according to B.R. White, director of the Code Enforcement Office.
