Permits Issued For SportClips and Carter’s In Oconee County’s Epps Bridge Centre

Now 90 Percent Leased

Oconee County Code Enforcement issued a permit last week for build out of 1,200 square feet of space at Epps Bridge Centre for SportClips, a haircut salon chain based in Texas.

Earlier this month Code Enforcement issued an interior permit for 4,485 square feet of space for childrens clothing store Carter’s.

Carter's Next To Lane Bryant

The two permits bring to 274,800 the number of square feet in Epps Bridge Centre built out for tenants out of the 312,125 square feet of space in buildings already constructed, according to a tally of space from code enforcement records.

That means that 90 percent of the space already built for the shopping center now has tenants.

Only 64 percent of the total permitted space in the strip mall is built, however, with buildings for two anchor stores and for 11 of the 12 outparcels yet to be permitted or built.

Haircuts And Kids Clothes

SportClips is a sports-themed haircutting franchise, which specializes in haircuts for men and boys. It also offers neck and shoulder massages.

SportClips, which has its headquartered in Georgetown, Texas, will be located next door to Alumni Hall, a sports clothing retailer.

Carter’s retail is an Atlanta-based retailer of clothing for babies, toddlers and children.

It will be located next to Lane Bryant.

Both SportClips and Carter’s have signs in the windows of the space they will occupy in Epps Bridge Centre.

SportsClips is scheduled to open Nov. 15, according to a news release I received today.

National Retailers

Epps Bridge Centre at present has only national retailers as tenants.

SportClips’ closest store is in Buford. Robert Klaus, who owns the Buford store, also will own the store in Epps Bridge Centre in partnership with his wife, Kathy Klaus.

Carter’s Retail currently has nearby stores in Commerce, Snellville, Buford and Lawrenceville.

Preliminary leasing plans submitted a year ago to the Oconee County Planning Department by The Bishop Company of Atlanta, developer of the $76 million Epps Bridge Centre, listed Best Buy as a possible tenant, but that has not materialized.

Flexibility In Space Use

The plans submitted to the Planning Department show an anchor next to Dicks’s Sporting Goods and another anchor next to Marshalls, but no plans have been submitted for those buildings.

The building housing Guitar Center was larger on preliminary plans than in those submitted so far for actual construction.

The Bishop Company has flexibility in how it uses the 486,241 square feet permitted for the strip mall in the zoning process and can allocate space as needed for tenants.
